To international organizations
MCC participates in technical cooperation and development assistance by supporting international cooperation actions in the multilateral framework (International Organization of the Francophonie, participation in the South Film Fund, participation in the work of theUNESCO and the France-UNESCO Convention, which provides technical assistance to countries in the south…)
The promotion of cultural diversity is also one of the major priorities of MCC, which actively worked towards the adoption of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions on 20 October 2005 at UNESCO.
MCC has created an operational tool for international cooperation France-Unesco Convention Through which France makes technical and financial assistance available to UNESCO. The Convention mobilizes the actors involved in wealth management in France to intervene on the ground at the request of the countries. In ten years, around 100 projects have been carried out in 50 countries in all regions of the world. The agreement has several partners (3 ministries: Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Communication, Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing; French Development Agency, Caisse des dépôts et consignations; local and regional authorities; universities, schools of architecture, regional nature parks; associations). The Secretariat of the France-UNESCO Convention is provided for France by the Directorate-General for Heritage.
MCC also participates in the work of the Council of Europe, which is headquartered in Strasbourg, and which now includes, with its 47 member countries, almost the entire European continent. Created on 5 May 1949 by 10 founding States, the Council of Europe aims to promote in Europe a common democratic and legal area, organized around the European Convention on Human Rights and other reference texts on the protection of the individual.
The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe was thus able to adopt in December 2010 an Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes in order to facilitate enhanced cooperation between countries particularly interested in the development of cultural routes.
In the field of heritage, MCC participates in the work of the Heritage Committee, which became since January 1, 2012 ' Culture, Heritage and Landscape Steering Committee” (CDCPP). This committee monitors conventions, projects and programmes in the field of heritage:
- The European Heritage Network (HEREIN Network) which brings together the administrations in charge of heritage and feeds a system of information on heritage policies in Europe, as well as a multilingual heritage thesaurus,
- the Regional programme for the cultural and natural heritage of south-eastern Europe,
- the european heritage days (JEP),
The MCC, through the CNC, also contributes to Eurimages, the Council of Europe Fund for the Co-production, Distribution and Exploitation of European Cinematographic Works. Its aim is to promote European cinema by stimulating the production and circulation of works and promoting cooperation between professionals.
MCC, through the Directorate-General for Heritage, also works with international organizations such as the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the International Council for Studies on the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICOM).ICCROM) in the field of museums, the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) for heritage, the International Council of Archives (ICA) for archives, the International Union of Architects (UIA), etc.
