Preparatory seminars for the creation of the GIS "Heritage institutions and intercultural practices" (2008-2011)
The Ministry of Culture and Communication had for several years initiated a policy of research aid on the theme "Cultures, cities and social dynamics", concretized in successive interdepartmental research programmes (from 1991 to 2008). Since 2008, this research has continued, particularly around the theme of interculturality and its consideration by cultural institutions related to heritage. A working group entitled "Intercultural dialogue in heritage institutions (museums, archives, libraries)" was set up at the initiative of the Ministry (Department of Research, Higher Education and Technology) with the aim of developing lines of research on the subject. Seminars were organized with the aim of fostering a shared reflection between institutions (museums, archives, libraries...), local actors (local authorities, associations...) and researchers. It was also a matter of preparing the creation of a scientific interest group (GIS) dedicated to this topic, and of considering the orientations of a call for research projects. The proceedings of this working group are available here.
