Chaillot National Theatre

Erected in 1937 as part of the World’s Fair, the Théâtre national de Chaillot is an exceptional place in the capital, facing the Trocadéro fountains, the Eiffel Tower and the Champ de Mars and housing a large number of art deco works. It is an important place in the history of France, since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was signed in 1948, but it is also here that the great adventure of the National Popular Theatre, founded by Firmin Gémier, was born and developed by Jean Vilar.

Since 2008, the Théâtre national de Chaillot has been the first national theatre to carry out a project built mainly around and from dance, which has positioned it as a major institution for the choreographic sector nationally and internationally. Rachid Ouramdane has been in charge since 2021.

Each year, the Théâtre national de Chaillot welcomes more than 130,000 spectators for nearly 40 shows and offers numerous arts and cultural education programs that encourage artists and audiences to meet.
