3. Evaluation Programs

The tools proposed in this list are generally programs developed by organizations that measure or evaluate parameters to be taken into account in the conservation-restoration process.

CALIPR / UC Berkeley library Preservation department: this Capipr software allows the collection and analysis of data to assess the conservation and restoration needs of archives and library holdings.

PadCad / Canadian Conservation Institute:  software to be used for the design of protective shielding for the transport of fragile objects.

PEGcon / Canadian Conservation Institute: PEGcon is a simple-to-use DOS program to calculate the amount of polyethylene glycol needed to keep a waterlogged wooden object.

Solvent solver / Mark Ormsby, National Archives and Records Administration:  program to select a solvent for restoration, using the teas diagram.

Dewpoint calculator / Image permanence institute - IPI: Program to calculate moisture content and assess risks associated with microorganism infestation, condensation, etc.
