Digital Library Toolkit
The Book and Reading Service brought together working groups to work on the drafting of practical sheets to accompany territorial libraries in their digital development projects. These fact sheets, all of which constitute a “Digital Library Toolkit”, provide territorial libraries with a handbook that takes into account the technological and organizational impacts of the digital issues they face.
This Toolkit aims to provide an overview of each of the themes addressed, seeking to clarify the objectives, modes of operation, potential developments and good practices while providing some useful references.
The working groups that ensure the writing of the practical sheets are composed of members from municipal and departmental libraries, the decentralized departments of the State, associations of library professionals, the Bibliothèque nationale de France, of the Book and Reading Service and more generally of actors in the book chain.
For each of the themes covered, experts are invited by the working group to draw up a state-of-the-art report on the subject, to identify the issues for libraries and to clarify developments. These experts are characterized by the diversity of their profiles: librarians, consultants, computer scientists, technicians, programmers...
The working group created for the latest fact sheet on digital accessibility brought together professionals in the field of public reading, specialists in the field of written access for audiences prevented from reading because of a disability, and specialists in web accessibility.
