The Cité de la céramique – Sèvres et Limoges is a public establishment created in January 20101 that brings together the National Manufacture of Sèvres, the National Ceramic Museum, also in Sèvres, and the Adrien-Dubouché National Porcelain Museum in Limoges. When it was created in 2010, the public establishment brought together the national manufacture and the Musée national de Céramique de Sèvres, under the name of Sèvres - Cité de la céramique. The establishment of the Adrien-Dubouché National Museum takes place on May 1, 2012, pursuant to Decree No. 2012-462 of April 6, 2012 on the public establishment Cité de la céramique – Sèvres et Limoges. Based on a strategy of development and research, the Cité de la céramique – Sèvres et Limoges reissues old models and produces contemporary works by working with many artists (Ettore Sottsass, Zao Wou-ki, Johan Creten, Claude Champy, Pierre Charpin, Barthélémy Toguo, Andrea Branzi, Christian Biecher...).

Sèvres Cité de la Céramique
The 21st Century: The Way of the Contemporary

In Sèvres, the happy conjunction between the excellence of the materials manufactured on site, the carefully preserved know-how and the inspired taste of modernity is an exceptional potential that David Caméo, Director of the Manufacture de Sèvres from March 2003 to December 2009 then General Manager of the new public establishment Sèvres - Cité de la céramique until 2014, intends to endow it with a strong editorial line, capable of perpetuating it. At its unparalleled level of know-how, Sèvres is choosing to add the talent of the most advanced creators of all backgrounds, to create, tomorrow, new forms and new functions". Romane Sarfati was appointed Director General of the public institution in 2014, taking into account the development axis through contemporary creation, which she intends to amplify internationally.

Thanks to the respective synergies of the Manufacture and the Museum brought together again, as Alexandre Brongniart had imagined in the nineteenth century, the new establishment Sèvres - Cité de la céramique aims at the creation of a National Pole of ceramics and fire arts, with a new reading of the collected collections and their wider dissemination, national and international, a global policy of the public, the creation of a center of scientific and applied research on ceramics, a development of the real estate complex and the further development of the creation and production of porcelain.  To this end, the Artistic, Scientific and Cultural Council assists the institution’s Board of Directors and its Executive Director, in particular in the selection of artists invited to work and new projects, as well as in the programming of exhibitions.

Sèvres - Cité de la céramique has been a member of the Colbert Committee since 1985 (www.comite-colbert.comThe houses of the Colbert Committee represent an industrial heritage that reflects the image of France in the world. They convey the values of excellence, inventiveness, technicality and modernity. They carry an essential part of French engineering linked to know-how and tradition at the service of creation. They preserve the living heritage of the trades."
