Thematic Scientific Networks (RST)
The Thematic Scientific Networks (RST), a label of the Ministry of Culture, authorised by the Office of Architectural, Urban and Landscape Research (BRAUP), aim to develop and promote, in the national, European and international research area, scientific productions in the fields of architecture, city and landscape.
They come from a collective dynamic and are coordinated each within a national higher school of architecture (ENSA). They may consist of research units of different statuses and origins, public and private structures, qualified professional skills and/or research staff as individual members. The RST are complementary to the ENSA research units because of the highly thematized nature of their scientific project, but also because of their ability to aggregate forces distributed in broad geographical and disciplinary areas.
The RST of architectural, urban and landscape research aims to:
- capitalise and disseminate the products of scientific research in the identified fields;
- strengthen relations between researchers from different fields but interested in the same thematic approach;
- develop knowledge tools on topics related to major contemporary societal challenges, emerging issues or any topic of interest to the ENSA scientific community;
- to link this work to the pedagogical and professional challenges of ENSA;
- contribute to the development of interdisciplinary doctoral courses;
- contribute to the development of a collective scientific dynamic resolutely oriented towards the construction of the European research area;
- Facilitate ENSA’s access to European funding programmes (notably Horizon 2020) by establishing lasting links with their international scientific partners.
