Françoise Nyssen, Minister of Culture, will launch the second edition of the National Days of Architecture in Orléans on the occasion of the inauguration of the first Biennale of Architecture organized by the Frac-Centre-Val de Loire on the theme Walking in someone else’s dream.
Included in the proposals of the National Strategy for Architecture, the National Days of Architecture have the primary ambition to give birth to a desire for architecture in our citizens. They also aim to federate and animate a network for dissemination of architecture at the national level.
These days are an opportunity to associate closely, around architectural themes, children, youth and adults in a festive and educational way. On the program of these three days, over 1400 events on the whole territory: conferences, debates, meetings with architects, exhibitions, screenings, awards, fairs, guided tours, urban walks, educational activities, workshops, open doors in architectural agencies...
This year, the participation of the National Council of the Order of Architects which organizes the fourth edition of the event Architects open their doors at the National Days of Architecture. This event is the opportunity to talk about architecture projects with a professional, to discover a profession and the know-how of the act of building still too unknown.
Also of note is the Interministerial Mission for the Quality of Public Buildings (MIQCP), which is celebrating its 40th anniversary and is organising a morning of interprofessional exchanges on Friday, October 13 at the auditorium of the Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine in Paris.
Finally, the priority of the Ministry of Culture, arts and cultural education will be an integral part of these National Days of Architecture, as for example in Nancy where the National School of Architecture offers the 9e edition of the Crazy Architecture Day during which the public is invited to come and «play the architect» through thirty playful and pedagogical workshops on the theme travel and architecture.
National Architecture Days will also be an opportunity to launch the second edition of the National Days of Architecture in Classrooms, the highlight of architecture’s action in the field of arts and cultural education in the national territory. Implemented by all the actors of architecture who deploy a cultural offer throughout the year on the different times of the child: school time, extra-curricular time, excluding school time, these days are for all young people, from kindergarten to university.
Les National Days of Architecture in Classrooms will be closed by a national conference to be held on November 24 and 25 at the Arc-en-Rêve Architecture Centre in Bordeaux, on the theme Pass on the architecture.
The National Architecture Days illustrate the policy that the Minister of Culture intends to pursue in favour of architecture. They show that architecture is a vector of territorial development and cohesion. This is why, the Minister wishes that a greater freedom is offered to architects through the establishment of the License to do which places architecture in a cultural and social dimension, more than regulation.
