Architecture and living environment
The Architecture Department supports architectural creation and ensures the promotion of architectural and landscape quality in urban and landscaping and construction, and the dissemination of architectural culture, notably through the trusteeship he ensures over the City of architecture and heritage. It is also responsible for defining higher education and architecture research policy.
The architecture department has two sub-directorates:

It shall draw up and ensure the application of the texts governing the profession of architect and she is the guardian of the National Order of Architects. In liaison with the other ministerial departments, it draws up legislative and regulatory provisions which have an impact on the quality of construction and layout. For public buildings, it works closely with the Interdepartmental mission for the quality of public buildings, interdepartmental mission to the Minister in charge of architecture. It defines and implements the policy in favour of modern and contemporary architecture, notably through actions relating to Label «Outstanding contemporary architecture» or at the Label «Cities and countries of art and history». It is responsible for the promotion and dissemination of the architecture and development of educational actions in this area.
It is related to the Regional Cultural Affairs Directorates in which, in particular, advisors for architecture, referents for architecture and Departmental Units of Architecture and Heritage (UDAP) are responsible for implementing the departmental architecture policy on the territory.
- the Higher Education and Architecture Research Branch
It provides statutory, budgetary and pedagogical supervision of the 20 national architecture colleges. It defines the objectives of the initial and further training in the field of architecture, in compliance with the Community Directive defining the profession of architect, a regulated profession, and in conjunction with the departments of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, since the State diploma of architect confers the degree of master. It promotes the architectural, urban and landscape research. Finally, it encourages international partnerships and participates in the development of a continuing education provision adapted to the needs of professionals.
