Management and its services
The Ministry of Culture has been present in each region since 1977 thanks to the Regional Directorates for Cultural Affairs (DRAC) which became decentralized services of the State in 1992.
The Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs is a decentralized department of the Ministry of Culture and Communication. Placed under the authority of the Prefect of Region and, for the missions under its jurisdiction, under the functional authority of the Prefect of Department, the DRAC has been gathering since the publication of decree no. 2010-633 of 8 June 2010 relating to the organization and missions of the regional cultural affairs directorates, the territorial architecture and heritage services placed in each of the six departments of the region.
In this new configuration the Drac Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur is now organized around two directions:
- direction patrimoines, architecture et espaces protégés
- direction création, publics et territoires
