Music, dance

Its mission is to support creation, production and dissemination activities in these various fields of activity.

The main missions of the Department of Music and Dance are in several aspects:

- Examination of applications for grants and management of decentralized appropriations, with delegation from the Prefect of the Region.
- Evaluation of artistic content as regards training, dissemination and creation.
- Implementation of partnership programmes at regional and departmental level in liaison with local and regional authorities.
- Advice to persons, associations, structures.
- Investigation and follow-up of files related to the application of laws on the teaching of music and dance.

Dissemination and creation

- Support to performing arts institutions certified by the Ministry of Culture and Communication: National Centres for Musical Creation, Permanent Orchestras in the Regions, Contemporary Music Scenes, National Choreographic Centres, Centre for - choreographic development.
- Support for other places such as conventioned scenes, places of emergence, distribution networks, etc.
- Support for independent arts teams.
- Support for music programming and residency.

Special and higher education and vocational training

- Support for specialized, higher arts education, vocational training and arts education:
 . École supérieure de danse de Cannes and Ecole supérieure de danse de Marseille,
 . Institute for Higher Education in Music - Europe and the Mediterranean (IESM) of Aix-en-Provence,
 . Cfmi de Marseille.
- Monitoring the application of the law on the teaching of dance (authorised centres).
- Monitoring the classification of public music, dance and drama schools in relation to the inspection and evaluation service of the Directorate-General for Artistic Creation (conservatories with regional, departmental and communal or intercommunal radiation).
