This operation is part of the tourism development policy of the Var coast, considered very late in this area in the early 1960s. The vigilance of the State services and the hesitations of the Société d'Etude de Travaux d'Immobilier et de Gestion (SETIMEG), facing a new market for it, explain that this operation, initiated in 1963, took ten years to emerge from the ground. The ensemble was built as a result of a process of reduction of drafts and drafts tirelessly modified by Jean Dubuisson (born 1914).
The operation, carried out on the Domaine des Engraviers, was produced in two phases.
The first part of the program, "Athena Residence Hotel", completed in 1969, is located in the upper part of the land in the heart of the pine forest and forms a simple bar rising on three floors, 30 meters above sea level, and originally housing a hotel and a set of studios. Entirely built of concrete, this building is animated on the façade only by loggias embellished with aluminum joineries, and wooden shutters or, recently, PVC. The impression of horizontality is reinforced by a dark decorative line running between each floor.
The second part, completed in 1973 and named Athéna Port, is located at a cove converted into a mooring port. This building forms a bar, characterized by a complex architecture and a bold setting.
The development project designed to connect the two bars partially saw the light of day with the creation of a swimming pool and gardens. The hotel having closed, the residence is now exclusively intended for annual or seasonal accommodation.
