Built by Jean Rozan in 1957, the city of Les Rosiers is located on the hill of Bon Secours. The program totals 752 apartments. It was implemented by the CIL (Comité Interprofessionnel du Logement), collector of the 1% employer for the staff of large Marseilles companies (autonomous board of transport, oil mill, water company, ship repair).
The composition of the mass plan is very articulated, with small blocks of 2 to 4 floors with outside distributions and buildings with 11 and 12 floors. The large buildings are designed as a stacking of rows of 3 and 4 floors, served by a suite of elevators, wide passageways and stairs, all forming a real architectural walk.
The facades differ according to the orientation of the bars, highlighting either the passageways or the forms of redents, sometimes to the north, sometimes to the south, increasing the various points of view on the buildings including the building itself.
This spatial device produces a certain urban plasticity; the architectural decoration is reduced to the alternation of the full or transparent lightnings of the balconies participating in a writing, after all, quite classical. The slab-post structure allows for wide typological updates.
