The Vesse viaduct was built for the Compagnie Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée (PLM) by the engineer Paul Séjourné (1851-1939).
Like the other railway viaducts on the Marseille/Port-de-Bouc line built by the same engineer, such as the Corbières or Eaux-Salées viaducts, it is covered with a masonry deck, resting on furry masonry supports and ashlar arches. The six arches of 20 m of opening dominate a cove and a small port opening on the bay of Marseille.
