MicroFolies
Micro-Folie: an innovative cultural device, serving the territories.
Supported by the State, supervised by the Ministry of Culture and accompanied by La Villette, the Micro-Folie system consists of integrating a Digital Museum at the heart of an already existing facility. Other complementary modules – such as a FabLab, virtual reality stations, or a stage space – can complement the Micro-Folie offer. Located as close as possible to the inhabitants, these local cultural platforms are a real tool at the service of Artistic and Cultural Education (EAC). With a stated ambition to deploy 1,000 Micro-Folies across the national territory by 2022, this system aims to be sustainable.
Democratization and EAC: a tool for users
The Digital Museum, a common component of all the Micro-Folies of the network, allows everyone to discover the masterpieces gathered by the partner institutions within thematic collections digitized in very high definition. Thanks to the large screen, tablets and sound system, all artistic forms can be honored. In addition, Micro-Folies are available in fixed and mobile versions, to move ever closer to the public.
The presence of a mediator to animate this device is essential. Indeed, the articulation between the digital museum, the other modules of the Micro-Folie, and especially the local cultural contents is the keystone of the success of the device. The mediator of a Micro-Folie ensures this privileged link with the public and the territory. Partnerships with the cultural and social fabric of the Micro-Food reception centres are strongly encouraged, as are actions for the school public as part of the EAC programme.
Host a Micro-Folie in your territory:
It only takes a space of 40 to 60 m² to host a digital museum. Its minimum cost is around €40,000, and can be adapted to suit the desired modules. The financing plan for its installation can be accompanied by the Prefectures or local authorities. In addition, Micro-Folie is an eligible device registered in the program «Small Town of Tomorrow». Dedicated calls for projects may exist, and the AMI «Fabrique de Territoire» also represents an opportunity. Micro-Folie is at the crossroads of various territorial and social operations conducted by the State services.
The support provided by La Villette allows project leaders and micro-Folies of the network to access a set of shared resources, ranging from the design to the animation of this place of life accessible to all.

To these open Micro-Food are added about twenty ongoing projects. Particularly invested in the deployment of the system throughout the regional territory, the regional prefect was at the initiative of a dedicated call for projects. The latter will allow the installation of 18 Micro-Folies very soon. The Department of the Alpes Maritimes, in its territory, also intervenes by setting up a specific grant of investment aid concerning the digital museum of Micro-Folies. By 2022, every resident of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region should find a Micro-Folie close to home.
