Digitization in the drac Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
Digitization and enhancement of cultural heritage is one of the priorities defined within the framework of the action of the Ministry of Culture.
The stakes are cultural and democratic.
First, digitization is a means of preserving and protecting physical records.
Second, it is a means of access to culture and knowledge, it is also an incentive to visit places that hold the works.
Finally, it is a means of contributing to the international influence of France, which has a particularly rich cultural heritage.
The Drac’s heritage services hold an important graphic, iconographic and documentary collection. This collection consists of silver and digital phototypes, handwritten and typed documents, prints, plans and glass plates.
The PatrImages web application lists and values this documentation. An important part of the iconographic collection is also accessible on the basis "POP" of the Ministry of Culture. The expected impacts are multiple:
- Foster relationships with institutional partners, researchers, owners, architects, communities, students, schools, publishing, tourism, etc. ,
- make this documentation available to the various public who request it,
- Acquire in-house global knowledge of documentary holdings regardless of the producer department.
To date, the database has 225,000 documents available online.
