A spa and tourist town, Gréoux-les-Bains welcomes many tourists throughout the year, which considerably increases its population. The town is located in a particular landscape and develops its vocation of leisure and well-being around the art of living and culture.
The media library
Opened to the public in 2007, it is located in the Oliva house, a restored bourgeois residence located near the city center, near the Thermal Baths.
On three levels are divided the adult and youth sections with spaces for reading and exhibition as well as a "room of the arts". In keeping with the diversity of the media library model, the institution offers written documents of all genres (fiction, documentaries, periodicals) as well as CDs, DVDs and computer equipment.
The media library works in close partnership with that of Manosque, within the framework of the intercommunal network, as well as with schools, the crèche and the associative environment. Exhibitions, conferences and reading committees are organized regularly for the public to promote the funds and make the media library a place of cultural and social life.
Finally, art is placed at the heart of the cultural project of the media library. On the ground floor is the work of Lucien Jacques, painter, watercolourist, engraver, poet and friend of Jean Giono. The exhibition is organized by the association of friends of the artist, who lived in the commune until his death in 1961. On the second floor, the "arts room" houses thematic collections on art and lifestyle as well as exhibitions.
