Culture, prevention, combating discrimination and poverty
The Ministry of Culture is involved in many projects aimed at promoting diversity, to act against poverty by combating discrimination in all cultural sectors. In Occitanie, the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs participates alongside the Commissioner for Prevention and Poverty Reduction in developing access to culture and arts and cultural education for the most vulnerable citizens, priority for youth.
The regional plan for the prevention and fight against poverty includes among others the fight against illiteracy, cultural rights in a participatory approach of the inhabitants, approaches to the fight against discrimination, the artistic and cultural awakening of young children. In order to prevent discrimination from early childhood through art and culture, the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (Drac) participates in particular in the implementation of the guidelines on children and equal access to arts and culture pursued with departmental councils, inter-communal cooperation institutions, municipalities, Family Allowance Funds (CAF) or the services of the State (Dreets call for projects, "1000 days of the child").
