The CAUE (Architecture, Urban Planning and Environment Council) is an organization with a public interest mission, born from the Architecture Act of 3 January 1977.
It aims to promote the quality of architecture, urban planning and the environment in the departmental territory. Architecture, landscapes and heritage are of public interest . CAUE is created at the initiative of local officials and chaired by a local elected official. It is a consultative body between the actors involved in the production and management of rural and urban areas.
In Occitania, there are 13 CAUE and a regional union of CAUE (URCAUE). They are privileged partners of the DRAC and are part of the network of architecture in Occitania alongside the Schools of Architecture, the Order of Architects, the Houses of Architecture... and participate in the Month of Architecture initiated by the DRAC and JNArchi.
