The patronage law celebrates its 20 years in Occitania in 4 stages - 1st meeting at the castle of Castries Wednesday 24 May at 5.30pm

The State/Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs Occitanie -, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, the endowment fund NaïaGaïa and the Banque populaire du Sud are teaming up to propose, for the economic networks, four meetings around patronage in the Occitanie region, to revitalize the system, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the law of 1er August 2003 on patronage, associations and foundations, known as the Aillagon Law.

The Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs, in charge of the information and awareness mission of cultural project leaders for the Occitanie region, also coordinates the network of civil society partners, signatories of the sponsorship agreements with the Ministry of Culture, consisting of CCI, accountants, notaries and lawyers. It is under the impetus of the Drac that the idea was born of relying on the anniversary date of promulgation of the law to create an event for companies of the regional territory, «Mécénat tour» which will start with Montpellier and will continue in Perpignan, Toulouse and Albi.

As an indicator of social change, patronage is now well established in the regions thanks to the relays organised on the ground. The promulgation of the 2003 law made it possible to facilitate the meeting between private companies and projects of general interest. Corporate philanthropy has become more professional, which is reflected in the importance of corporate social responsibility, the commitment of employees and cross-community philanthropy. In 20 years, philanthropy has marked a real change in mentality, creating bridges between different sectors and fostering a culture of giving. The development of local philanthropy is also accelerating in a favourable context for small businesses/SMEs thanks to the new expenditure ceiling The diversification of resources is also becoming a major issue in this new paradigm.

The 2003 law, which allows a tax exemption, promotes above all the attractiveness of the territory and the economic benefits as well as a network spirit, thanks to the mobilization of the fabric formed by these medium-sized companies. The latest known study by Admical, associated with the FIFG and the Ministry of Finance, reveals that 9% of companies are sponsors in France, but that among them they are 96% SMEs. This study confirms the idea that efforts must be continued with them.

In Occitania

Only 4.2% of businesses in the region are sponsors. The organizers of Corporate philanthropy Tour have therefore wished to give a voice to the business leaders concerned to testify to the many exemplary initiatives that have flourished in 20 years (clubs, endowment funds, foundations, etc.) and to explain their motivations, to encourage their peers to embark on this adventure.

This tour of the region on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the law, the first stage of which is the castle of Castries (Hérault), aims to sensitize the companies of Occitanie by making them know or rediscover the device to make it accessible to them.

  • What is patronage?
  • Is it suitable for my business?
  • How do you do patronage?
  • How can I commit?
  • What are the benefits?
  • What are the different forms of support?...

So many questions that will be addressed during this Corporate philanthropy Tour The witnesses will try to answer based on the example of community patronage, patronage of skills, in kind, and the links inherent in a CSR approach in all sectors of philanthropy.
