On 16 February 2023, the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs and the Occitanie Regional Health Agency, with the support of the Mécano Resource Centre, agreed to a working seminar on mobilizable private funding for the culture and health sector.

Regional seminar on private financing16 February 2023 at the auditorium of the Gérard Marchant Hospital Centre in Toulouse, by the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (Drac), the Regional Health Agency (ARS), with the support of La Mécano, a resource centre, within the framework of the Culture santé handicap & dépendance scheme, which links the partners.
Renewal of the Drac/ARS Partnership Agreement
The Drac and ARS Occitanie renewed in 2020 their partnership agreement on the Disability & Dependency Health Culture scheme for the period 2020-20202024, with a financial envelope of 245 KE and thus aimed at promoting access to art and culture for all audiences in hospitals and medical and social institutions.
Since 2010, this initiative has resulted in the support and funding of numerous cultural projects for the benefit of people in care, disability or dependency situations.
La Mécano
The partnership agreement has resulted, among other things, in the structural evolution of «La Mécano - Ressources culture santé handicap & dépendance Occitanie» - whose missions allow to strengthen the animation of networks, the support, training and monitoring of projects.
For the implementation of cultural projects, funding complementary to the support of the Culture santé handicap & dépendance scheme is a recurring issue for project promoters.
This is why, on November 19, 2021 in Toulouse and November 25, 2021 in Montpellier, La Mécano proposed two workshops on private financing.
Towards the creation of an endowment fund
The purpose of this regional seminar on February 16, 2023 is to witness the dynamics implemented during these two workshops, to recall the mechanism of patronage, which will celebrate 20 years in 2023, and to work collectively to create a specific tool, the endowment fund.
This legal vehicle carried by the Mécano with the support of the Drac and the ARS would allow, thanks to the donations of companies and individuals, to accompany, structure the search for private financing for the benefit of cultural projects of general interest - culture health and disability & dependency culture - conducted in health and medico-social institutions of the Occitanie region and to respond to issues of territorial equity.
