After three years of closure for renovation, the Goya Museum was inaugurated this Friday, April 14 before starting a weekend reunion with the general public.
As a prelude to the reopening of the Goya Museum, Pascal Bugis, Mayor of Castres, invited to an official inauguration all the partners of this renaissance including Mr. Lauch, Prefect of Tarn, Mr. Roussel, Drac Occitanie, representatives of local authorities, architects, restaurateurs, businesses…
Alongside local authorities, the State has financially supported the transformation of the Goya Museum, labeled Museum of France by the Ministry of Culture, to the tune of more than two million euros.
This represents half of the grants obtained from alls partners.
The Goya Museum is the only French museum entirely dedicated to Spanish art. It has the largest collection of Hispanic art in France, after the Louvre Museum with which a partnership agreement was signed just before the inauguration.
