European Heritage Days 17 and 18 September 2022
. For the 2022 European Heritage Days, the Drac offers two reports on the discovery of heritage in Occitania, the first on the restoration site of the Notre Dame de Rodez cathedral and the second on the manufacture of exceptional carpets from the Lodève manufacture (Mobilier national). These videos produced by the Drac were produced by Temaprod, a consulting agency specialized in the promotion of architecture, heritage and culture. Both sites will be open to visitors on September 17 and 18.
Restoration of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Rodez
In the heart of the former province of Rouergue, in the city of Rodez, stands a huge building of pink sandstone, which has become the emblem of a whole territory: the Notre-Dame Cathedral. The 700-year-old building is currently undergoing a major restoration campaign. At the foot of the imposing western massif, the report deciphers its architecture and tells the story of this unusual construction site.
The manufacture of exceptional carpets for national furniture
In Lodève, in the hinterland of Herault, there is an extraordinary know-how. For almost 60 years, the annex of the Manufacture Nationale de la Savonnerie has been producing exceptional carpets for national furniture. The report takes us to the heart of the weaving workshop, in the footsteps of a colourful story!
