Cinema and audiovisual
As an integral part of the cultural industries sector, the Cinema and Audiovisual Service is responsible for bringing to Normandy the State’s policies on cinema and audiovisual.
The Film and Audiovisual Service carries out its mission in favour of film and audiovisual exploitation, production and distribution. In consultation with local authorities and professional circles, it ensures the development of arts education in the image and access of the greatest number to cinematographic and audiovisual works.
It operates in two areas:
- cultural, cinematographic and audiovisual dissemination: support for associations, meetings, events and festivals; monitoring of cinematographic exploitation, including Art et Essai cinemas; advice to exhibitors and communities
- arts education and training, through the agreements implemented with the academic authorities and local authorities, national image education schemes and the monitoring of arts education in high schools.
The service is the main point of contact for the various regional actors in the film industry and provides them with information and advice, particularly with regard to the procedures covered by the CNC, such as the authorisation to practise, the award of the "art et essai" label, selective aid for the creation and modernization of cinemas. It also investigates applications for the establishment of cinemas with more than 300 seats within the framework of the CDAC (departmental committees of cinematographic equipment).
