Babil
Initiated by the DRAC of Normandy in 2020 and deployed in partnership with 4 Caf of Normandy, the BABIL program aims to promote the cultural and artistic awakening of young children by hosting in residence in crèches of artists of all disciplines. From these residencies are born small musical, plastic, theatrical, danced forms, created especially for the little ones and their contact.
It is in this context that the FRAC Normandie Caen proposed to Émile Orange, a plastic artist, a residence at the Caen-Sud Early Childhood Relay, whose FRAC regularly welcomed maternal assistants and young children within it. He created the character and the Orange Magician’s awakening cape to bring children to discover the play of colors and materials and create a beautiful and immense carpet from their own expression on the canvas, lines of pencil and paint, fingerprints of hands and feet, etc.
Giraffes Awards
It is this beautiful collaboration between a cultural place and a place of early childhood around the creation of an artist valuing the very first artistic gestures of children that was awarded on October 24 at the Girafe Awards ceremony.
Organized by Acting for Early Childhood, this ceremony honors every year professionals in contact with children, whether in collective reception (crèche), individual (kindergarten assistant) and since last year in home care.
This event, held at Ministry of Solidarity and Health, in front of an institutional audience (CNAF, elected officials, representatives of the government, the ministries of health and culture, recognized specialists in early childhood, etc.).
Les 22 Giraffes Awards Awards, regional and national, awarded each year to the most beautiful and inventive installations, and especially those that give the opportunity to the little ones to explore, manipulate, venture, play their role as researchers and creators.
