The contemporary stained glass windows of the church of Saint-Martin de Monthuchon

At the initiative of the mayor of the municipality of Monthuchon (50) taking advantage of the renovation project of the church, the idea of the installation of a contemporary work within the building germinated and resulted in this realization.

The subject of the resumption of the eighteen bays, the quality of the light produced inside the building, indeed required special attention: how to deploy, how to reveal the assets of the church Saint-Martin and the best aspects of its architecture? It was this question that gradually guided the idea of creating stained glass windows, the constitution of the dedicated steering committee and the sketch of Jenna Kaes.

It became an original work, a happy and wonderful encounter between art and architecture, a human encounter too, which proved fruitful. The artistic commission creates a new link between the heritage setting of the church and contemporary creation.

The effect is successful as we appreciate the aesthetic result, as it operates – and the dynamic sign is there – a dialogue, a passage from one era to another, the possible projection between a heritage and creation.
