"By issuing these two labels, AFNOR recognizes the commitments and concrete actions put in place at the Ministry of Culture to ensure respect for diversity and equal treatment of staff but also with regard to our audiences, partners and users of all kinds (…) This recognition should encourage us to remain mobilized,' said the Minister.
The obtaining of the Equality and Diversity labels comes as Françoise Nyssen has just recalled that she wanted the Ministry of Culture and all cultural institutions to spearhead equality between women and men but also by facilitating women’s access to positions of responsibility and the means of creation, and the end of wage disparities and the fight against sexism and sexual harassment. The Minister of Culture also asked the directors of higher education schools Culture under the ministry to draft a charter on women’s relations-men, and reminded the DRAC of its wish for a first assessment of the concrete implementation of the circular of 8 March 2017 on parity in the creative sector.
Double certification, awarded for 4 years
Double certification, awarded for 4 years, concerns the entire headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, the five regional cultural affairs directorates (DRAC Île-de-France, Grand-Est, Occitanie, Normandie and DAC Martinique) and two services under national jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture (the National Archives and the Mobilier national). About twenty public institutions under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture have undertaken a similar approach and are currently audited by AFNOR to obtain the two labels.
Two independent national commissions – one responsible for the Equality label, the other for the Diversity label - composed of representatives of the administration, employers and trade unions, met on 19 and 23 October to examine the application of the Ministry of Culture on the basis of an audit conducted by AFNOR in June 2017.
