The Art et Essai Network
Another important aspect of regional film policy is the networking of art-house cinemas. This networking is provided at regional level by the Association des cinémas du Centre (ACC), an organization supported by the DRAC and the Region. At the inter-regional level (six administrative regions), the Association des cinémas Art et Essai de l'Ouest pour la Recherche (ACOR) works for a networking of its members, defending a demanding auteur cinema. ACOR benefits from the main support of the DRAC Centre-Val de Loire and additional support from other DRAC.
Created in 1995, the Association des cinémas du Centre (ACC), Supported by the DRAC and the Region, brings together about forty cinemas and associations. The ACC federates a network of associative halls, private or public, mainly classified «art et essai» in the 6 departments of the region and organizes various actions of networking for the benefit of the young audience (1,2,3 Ciné) and in favor of films of heritage (Ciné Culte). It also organizes monthly forecasts for exhibitors in the various cinemas and, since 2010, the Rendez-vous du cinéma in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
To bring together film professionals from the Centre-Val de Loire region, to reflect on the exploitation and dissemination of films through workshops, but also to promote art and essay films and make them available to the public on the big screen: these are the objectives of the CCA.
For his part, the Association of Western Cinemas for Research (ACOR) develops awareness-raising actions in interregionality in Haute and Basse-Normandie, Brittany, Pays-de-la-Loire, Centre-Val de Loire and Poitou-Charentes in constant contact with national or regional organizations, as well as with independent distributors.
ACOR implements projects in the field of the dissemination of quality unpublished films, cultural action and the defense of «art and essay» cinemas.
