Book and reading
DRAC’s interventions in the field of books and reading have two objectives: the democratization of access to reading and support for all the actors of the "book chain": authors, publishing houses, bookstores, libraries. Created in the 1960s, the concept of "public reading" was born from the concern to disseminate reading to all audiences through public bodies (municipal libraries, departmental lending libraries) and networks that bring them together. The Ministry of Culture thus develops an important public reading policy through various mechanisms (special competitions, city reading contract...).
