Regional Archaeological Service (SRA)
The Regional Service of Archaeology (SRA) is responsible for implementing the State’s archaeology policy in the region; its mission is to inventory, study, protect, preserve and make known the archaeological heritage.
It contributes to the enrichment and updating of the archaeological map by collecting information from the results of prospecting operations, excavations and studies of ancient holdings.
Led by a regional curator of archaeology, the SRA oversees the enforcement of legislation relating to archaeology. It prescribes preventive archaeology operations (diagnostics and excavations), investigates applications for authorization of excavations, monitors and controls their execution, in liaison with the territorial commissions of archaeological research (CTRA).
SRA implements the necessary measures for the protection, conservation and promotion of the movable and immovable archaeological heritage. They ensure the dissemination and promotion of research.
