Cultural policy and actions
The DRAC coordinates the actions of the State in the regions in the field of culture and develops close cooperation with the local and regional authorities in order to carry out common policies with them or to provide expertise and technical support where necessary in the fields of fields of culture.
The missions of the DRAC are as follows:
- safeguard, protect and enhance cultural heritage
- promote the creation of works of art and spirit
- develop artistic practices and teachings and contribute to the development of arts and cultural education for children and adults throughout their lives
- supporting cultural industries: books and film/audiovisual in the regions
Cultural heritage
Promote a common approach to study, protect, conserve, enhance and enrich museum collections, archaeological heritage, archival heritage, historical monuments, protected areas, as well as other cultural properties protected under the Heritage Code or the Urban Planning Code for their historical, aesthetic and cultural interest while opening access to the widest possible audience.
Support for artistic creation
Ensure the diversity and renewal of the cultural offer in the region, at all stages of the life of the work: creation, production, dissemination.
Transmission of knowledge and democratisation of culture
Prioritize the encounter with works, artists and heritage, educate sensitivity and promote aesthetic judgment, through many partnership and sustainable approaches.
Addressing inequality of access to art and culture.
Through these practices, create the conditions for a personal encounter with the artistic process or heritage values.
Supporting cultural industries: books and film/audiovisual in the regions
Support the development, the diversity and the professionalization of distribution networks both at the level of the book (mediatheques, bookshop, publishers,...) and the cinema (dissemination networks art and essay, festivals,...)
To widen the public, in particular through aid for cultural mediation and awareness-raising operations for local audiences.
Devote special attention to developments in the digital field.
In addition to the support of the DRAC, there are national measures: National Book Centre and National Film and Motion Picture Centre.
