Bioarchaeology and geoarchaeology in Burgundy-Franche-Comté

The first day will be devoted to two disciplines: bioarchaeology, which studies biological remains such as plant and animal remains and geoarchaeology, which studies soils. In an interdisciplinary approach at the heart of current issues, this scientific work contributes to the understanding of the relationships between the societies of the past and their environment. The day will show the different approaches of these two disciplines and take stock of the knowledge acquired during excavations carried out in the region, especially in the Jura.

Preventive and programmed archaeology in Burgundy-Franche-Comté

The second day will discuss the news in preventive archaeology and programmed in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. When an archaeological operation is motivated solely by scientific research objectives, it falls within the framework of programmed archaeology. Preventive archaeology, on the other hand, allows the detection and scientific study of remains likely to be destroyed by works. This day will offer an overview of the operations recently carried out, from Auxerre to Lons-le-Saunier, via Autun or Besançon.

These two days, which show the richness of archaeological research in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, are addressed to professionals and students but also to enthusiasts.
