Rock the casbah is a project on adolescent body energy. Too much «lazy», there is too much anger, screaming, melancholy, love, buttons, trouble, silence, boredom, revolt, tug, hope, shame. TOO MUCH. The tumult of life in the end.
At any age, it is complex to sneak into the casbah of our body. It is a dizzying journey. Yet the teenager feels more particularly observed. e adults, such a phenomenon. We talk about ADOLESCENTS, as a uniform community that we imagine coming out of an industrial production chain, making calibrated, stereotyped «subjects» with for inevitable passage: the famous teen crisis.
Often seen by adults as the very image of nonchalance and lethargy, the adolescent body deserves much more tolerance. Adults are certainly equally responsible for this inhibition, widely spreading to younger generations symbols of physical perfection, inflicting furniture ill-suited to their physiology in the school environment…
In search of identity, it is not surprising that it is necessary to find refuge in bands of buddies, substitute «brothers» or «sisters» to seek a space to be oneself. Another symbolism of the casbah, to build oneself but also to make oneself a way to inhabit one’s body, to have a drawing, to delirium and to defy life. It is often in these friendly circles that bursts of energy, impulses, unforgettable moments of euphoria are born.
This participatory project has been carried out since the beginning of 2023 by the company The Ruse ” with a group of youth from the territory. 14 youth from the Aurillac Basin, aged 15 to 17, registered.
