Departmental unit of architecture and heritage of Isère - Protected areas
As a player in the evolution of territories, the UDAP of Isère participates in the implementation of the regulations relating to protected spaces, in the promotion of architectural, heritage and urban quality, also contributes to the scientific and technical control of the works on all the historical monuments of the department. Finally, it intervenes on projects in protected sites under the title of landscape.
It ensures the preservation and enhancement of protected areas: surrounding historic monuments, remarkable heritage sites.
Work likely to alter the exterior appearance of a building, built or not built, located in protected space are subject to prior authorization requiring the approval of the architect of the buildings of France.
The architect of the buildings of France is curator of two historical monuments belonging to the State assigned to the Ministry of Culture: the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Grenoble and the monastery of the Grande Chartreuse in Saint-Pierre de Chartreuse
The UDAP team is composed of an architect of the buildings of France, an architect of the buildings of France assistant, two technicians of the buildings of France, an engineer of the cultural and heritage services and two administrative assistants.
In particular, the service works in partnership with:
- the
CAUE
of Isère;
- the Cultural Heritage Service of the Departmental Council of Isère;
- the Heritage Foundation, a partner in advising individuals;
- the Departmental Directorate of the Territories and its architects and landscape designers;
- the Regional Directorate for Environment, Development and Housing;
- heritage associations present on the department
