Aid to public libraries of local authorities; to authors, publishing houses and bookshops; to the acquisition and restoration of public library heritage funds (FRRAB); to the restoration and digitization of archival heritage; the promotion of the written and archival heritage; literary events; writer’s residencies and writing and translation grants and comic book grants from the DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

Prior to any request, please contact the DRAC Book and Reading service and read the recommendations for the writing of the Cultural, Scientific, Educational and Social Project in Public Library of Local Authorities (PCSES):
Regarding the functioning of public libraries, the DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes recommends:
For staff :
o 1 qualified full-time equivalent per 2,000 population. If Executive position: at least 1 Class B officer
• For weekly opening hours to the public (excluding reception of groups or classes), for municipalities and EPCI:
o less than 2,000 inhabitants: minimum of 15 hours
o 2,000 to 9,999 population: 20 hours minimum
o 10,000 to 14,999 population: minimum of 25 hours
o 15,000 to 24,999 population: minimum 30 hours
o 25,000 or more inhabitants: minimum of 35 hours
For registration : free, at least until the age of 18, and ideally for all audiences.

This support fund co-financed by the State - Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the Region supports the policy pursued by the local authorities of the region to enrich the heritage funds of their libraries, and the restoration of the documents they keep.

- Book sector contract
The State - DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region and the National Book Centre have committed to develop a common policy to support and promote the development of the book sector in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region for the period 2020-2023.
This contract for the book sector has three components: Authors, Publishing Houses and Bookshops, and proposes new support mechanisms developed in consultation with book professionals and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Livre et Lecture agency.

These scholarships awarded by the State (DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) and the Region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, with the assistance of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Livre et Lecture (ARALL) aim to contribute to “giving time” writers, screenwriters and cartoonists to carry out a writing and publishing project.
