The aids
Its aim is to promote artistic research in all areas of contemporary creation. It is not intended for the exhibition or the publication of a catalogue or monograph. The amount of the allowance is calculated according to the nature of the project and the expenses necessary for its realization and may not exceed 8000 €
This assistance allows artists to improve the layout of their current workshop that they own or rent. This allowance may not exceed 50% of the total amount of the work and may not exceed €8,000.
By the presence of works of art outside the only institutions specialized in the field of contemporary art, the public commission allows the encounter of contemporary creation by the greatest number. It also aims to give artists a tool allowing them to carry out projects whose scope, stakes or dimension require unusual means. Public procurement therefore means both an object - art which, when leaving its reserved spaces, goes to the search for the population in its living places, in the public space - and a procedure marked by different stages, of the initiative of the sponsor, up to the realization of the work by the artist and its reception by the public. This voluntary, ambitious scheme has given new life to public art. Present in very diverse places, from urban space to rural world, from historical monuments to gardens, from tourist sites to the new space that is the internet, contemporary art in the public space involves an extraordinary variety of plastic expressions including sculpture, design, crafts, new media, photography, graphic design, landscaping or light interventions. The aspirations of public commissions have also evolved profoundly. The notion of use or functionality of the work is no longer objected to. The intervention can sometimes have an ephemeral character (intervention on sets or an event), giving the opportunity for a new and striking perception of space. This support for the creation of the Ministry of Culture and Communication responds to the challenges of expanding contemporary art audiences and encouraging artists to create new and exceptional works.
thatis a procedure for ordering artwork to artists. It requires public authorities to reserve one per cent of the cost of construction for the commission or acquisition of one or more works of art specially designed for the building in question.
This system is imposed on most public buildings of the State and those of local and regional authorities, within the limits of the competences transferred to them by the laws of decentralization. Within a specific artistic committee, the DAC acts as the rapporteur of the dossiers and ensures compliance with the legislation.
All forms of expression in the field of visual arts are concerned, from the most traditional disciplines, such as painting or sculpture, to new media, video, design, graphic design, sound creation, landscape creation.
Instrument of a political will to support the creation and awareness of our fellow citizens of the art of our time, it offers an original framework of action to promote the encounter between an artist, an architect and the public, outside institutions dedicated to contemporary art.
