For more than 30 years, the Nantes Spanish Film Festival has been highlighting the richness of Spanish cinema. For this new edition, this festival will take place from March 23 to April 2, 2023 in the Graslin district (Katorza Cinema, Espace Cosmopolis and Graslin Theatre).

An emotional programme

This 32e edition highlights the plurality of Spanish cinema.

On the programme: nearly 70 films, half of which are unpublished; 200 screenings; 40 guests including a guest of honour; The Basque Window; competitions and awards; special screenings with, for example, the screening of the unpublished Spanish series Apagón. There will also be an exhibition by photographer Óscar Fernández Orengo on women filmmakers at the Cosmopolis space in Nantes …

This year, the Nantes Spanish Film Festival is enriched by a cycle dedicated to heritage films in partnership with the Spanish film library.

A meeting place for Spanish cinema personalities

During this festival, meetings will be held with guests from Spanish and French cultural backgrounds (filmmakers, directors, journalists, writers, comic book authors, screenwriters, artists, etc.). Personalities like: Carlos Vermut, Pilar Palomero, Carlos Saura, Jaimes Rosales, Isabel Coixet and many others... will be on the bill for this edition.

The guest of honour of the 32nd edition

Carmen Maura (one of the most internationally recognized Spanish actresses) will be the guest of honor of this 32e publishing. She will present a selection of 4 films from her career that reveal the diversity of her roles and make her one of the greatest actresses.

A tribute to Luis Tosar in his presence

Present from 23 to 25 March, a tribute will be paid to the actor Luis Tosar through the programming of a retrospective in 5 films. It will also be an opportunity to meet him.

The Festival

Founded in 1990, the Nantes Spanish Film Festival aims to make Spanish cinema known to the greatest number, in plural territories through film screenings, but also meetings with personalities from Spanish and French cultural circles.

The aim of the festival is to raise awareness among all audiences, especially young audiences.
