As such, they are the contacts of the Service Interministériel des Archives de France (SIAF) and the regional correspondents of the directors of departmental and municipal archives services.

Their missions lead them to participate in the implementation, in the regions, of national policies, by providing a role of advice vis-à-vis the various partners, institutional or associative, established in the regional territory, in the fields of safeguarding (collection and preservation), dissemination and exploitation of archival, written and oral holdings. A support policy is implemented for projects with different entries (reporting of funds, publications, exhibitions, national celebrations).

Conservation, enrichment, knowledge and access for all to written and graphic heritage are the objectives of the policy pursued in this area, the responsibility of which lies with the municipal libraries. These preserve ancient, rare and precious collections, which require specific conservation conditions and can occasionally be restored.

Within the framework of the General Decentralization Endowment (DGD), the DRAC can help to support investments intended to promote the conditions of preservation and conservation of these funds (air conditioning, anti-theft system, digitization and reprography equipment...).

They encourage the development of collections through the Regional Library Acquisition Fund (FRAB). Since 1990, this system, financed on a par basis by the State and the Region, has helped municipalities purchase heritage works for their libraries. With a view to the establishment of a Regional Action Plan for Written and Graphic Heritage (P.A.P.E.G.), the DRAC has drawn up an initial inventory of these heritage funds and has defined five priority areas of work.

The reporting of collections, the improvement of their conditions of conservation, their valorization by exhibitions, a regional policy of digitization of documents and training of the staff concerned in charge of these funds.

French and French languagese

The support and promotion of the French language depends in particular on its use in new media, but also on support for actions to promote the French language and reflect on its uses and developments, as well as those relating to a better appropriation of the language. Support for the languages of France aims to develop a better knowledge and a consideration of linguistic diversity.
