Visual Arts in the Loire Region
The action of the DRAC in the field of visual arts consists in participating in the definition and implementation of the policy of the State in terms of development, dissemination of contemporary creation and structuring of the visual arts sector in the Pays de la Loire. Its mission is to support the creation, production and transmission of knowledge through higher education.
The DRAC coordinates and streamlines today’s creative networks: painting, sculpture, photography, design, decorative arts and crafts. In this sense, it accompanies the institutional and labeled structures of the region. It also promotes the development of associations and collectives of artists engaged in actions related to the promotion and development of audiences.
The DRAC is also the privileged interlocutor of artists, creators and professionals of contemporary art, regarding their integration, their professional, tax and social situation. It coordinates support mechanisms for artists: Individual Creative Assistance, facilitating the realization of a creative project and Assistance for the installation of workshops and the purchase of equipment, meeting the material needs of artists.
The visual arts sector implements SODAVI (Orientation Scheme for the Development of Visual Arts). This tool helps to build public policies in favour of the visual arts, serving professional actors of the visual arts and the public. It is broken down according to territorial specificities. Its objective is to establish a diagnosis of the existing situation and possible shortcomings, but also to identify and federate the work of all the actors in a process of non hierarchical consultation.
The public commission and the 1% artistic also participate in the planning of the territory and the requalification by the contemporary creation of urban or rural spaces. In this sense, these two arrangements are an integral part of the service’s missions.
