Book and Reading Service - Drac Pays de la Loire

In consultation with institutional and professional partners, the service implements, in the regions, the national Ministry of Culture in terms of books and lguesswork.

Les missions DRAC in the field of books and reading recovernt much of the book chain: authors, houses ofpublishing, bookshops, libraries, written heritage, literary structures, literacy development organizations…

In the field of reading, the main missions concern the development and modernization of public libraries and the democratization of the practice of reading among a very large public and in all points of the regional territory notably through arts education and cultural and contractual relations with local authorities. The conservation, preservation and enrichment of written heritage is also an important area of work.

In the book sector, the main aim is to support cultural enterprises (bookstores and publishing houses) in their development and structuring projects. These same objectives are developed in the field of «literary life» with support to organizations implementing literary programs or writer residencies aimed at promoting knowledge and the encounter with living literary creation.

At the conjunction of all these areas, the establishment of inter-professional cooperation between book and reading stakeholders, supported by Mobilis, represents a major priority for service intervention.
