Scientific documentation and archaeological operations reports
In addition to archaeological furniture, archaeological operations produce two types of documentation: scientific documentation and archaeological operations reports.
The documentscientific evaluation
The scientific documentation consists of written, graphic, digital, photographic, natural and biological materials collected during the operation.
Reports of archaeological operations
Each archaeological operation, diagnosis, survey, excavation, gives rise to a final operation report (RFO) which presents the scientific results.
Archaeological operation reports can be used for the purposes ofstudy and of scientific dissemination, excluding any commercial exploitation, by the State, by Inrap and by legal entities with archaeological research services.
- Presentation standards
The content and form of the transaction report shall comply with standards defined by theorder of 27 September 2004 defining standards for the content and reporting of archaeological operations.
- Consulting
Transaction reports are communicable according to the rules applicable to administrative documents.
'Administrative documents are subject to literary and artistic property rights. The exercise of the right to communication (...) excludes, for its beneficiaries or for third parties, the possibility of reproducing, distributing or using for commercial purposes the documents communicated."

- Exploitation
The catches of notes and the photocopies are authorized for a exclusively private use and not intended for collective use (Article L. 122-5 of the Intellectual Property Code).
Any reproduction of the text, whether or not accompanied by photocopies, maps or diagrams, is only possible within the framework of the short-quote right, with the accurate and complete references of the author of the book.
The public information contained in the transaction report may be reused exclusively under the conditions provided for in Chapter II of Law No. 78-753 of 17 July 1978 amended concerning the improvement of relations between the administration and the public and various administrative, social and fiscal provisions.
Archaeological operation reports can be used for the purposes ofstudy and of scientific dissemination, excluding any commercial exploitation, by the State, by Inrap and by legal entities with archaeological research services.
