When the linocut libera of psychic suffering
For more than a year, the artist Lou Nicollet, installed on the Millevaches plateau, collects the linocut plates made during these multiple workshops. Gathered in a library of anatomical elements (ears, eyes, nose, mouth, leg, hand, etc.), these plates circulate from participant to participant, in order to create or reconstitute characters, more or less figurative or chimeric, thereby questioning our representations of “normal” and “bizarre”.
Place of creation specialized in the reception of people in mental suffering or carriers of a disability, the association La Broussaille, supported by DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine as part of the 2022 Cultural Summer, hosted these linocut workshops during the summer. Every Thursday, the July 29 to October 3, 2022, the library of figures was thus completed with the participation of the users of the health, social and medico-social structures of Limousin (Closed educational center Les Monédières, Foyer Les Tamaris de la Fondation Jacques Chirac, Gem d'Aubusson et de Guéret, Centre de loisirs de Peyrat le Château, Centre Hospitalier La Valette) and residents of the surrounding communes. The participants, in their imagination, allowed themselves to be transported by the time of the workshops, to another liberating place, far from their surroundings, or far from the institutions in which they are used to spending their day.
The early inhibition, when participants often say they can’t draw, turns into satisfaction, because the result, once printed, is always very contrasting and aesthetic. » Lou Nicollet

« Lectures à la Baignade »: Shakespeare and company on the edge of Creuse
This summer, residents and tourists of the Celle Dunoise have been transported in the literary universe of experienced artists or in the process of professionalization. Every Thursday, a literary extract, selected without geographical or temporal limits, was recited to the delight of the public.
Initiated by the association Possum production, this series of riverside readings was a first in 2021. The picturesque site of the Celle Dunoise has proved to be the ideal location to meet at a time when the heat is less intense and the beach is transformed into a small outdoor theatre.
To respect this corner of paradise «Natura 2000», it is in a decoration made from objects of recovery (a parasol, a table and a chair), without sound installations or light, that these readings took place. In an eco-responsible approach, the Possum association has resorted to actresses and actors residing mainly on the territory or already present in the context of other events.
The Cul Summerturel
While reaffirming the role of the arts and culture in the rebirth of the social bond, the Cultural Summer is a device of the Ministry of Culture whose objective is to allow vulnerable audiences, especially young people and their families who do not have the opportunity to go on holiday, to access a quality cultural offer during the summer period. The operation should also enable young artists, who have recently graduated from art schools, to be supported in their access to employment.
