Whether linked to industrial history, to large sculpture or ceramic workshops, or to expeditions from our ports to other continents, the collections of the 43 museums labeled “Musée de France” witness to the human activities present in our territory over the centuries. They illustrate its strengths and know-how, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
This is why the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region supports museums, whether for their restoration and development work or through their mediation actions. The enrichment of France’s museum collections
also part, through the intermediary notably of the Acquisition Fund of the Museums of Poitou-Charentes, financed equally by the State and the Region. This support mechanism has recently enabled museums to acquire works as well
as exceptional as the ancient treasure of Chevanceaux.
This publication invites you to discover many of the works that have joined the collections of our museums thanks to FRAM since its creation in 1982. It completes the exhibition produced by the Region, in partnership with the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (DRAC), and presented in the various museums of the region. These initiatives demonstrate the shared ambition of the State, the Region and the local authorities managing these certified museums, to enrich and enhance the collections. They thus contribute to the cultural development, the tourist attractiveness of Poitou-Charentes and the preservation of collective memory.
