Conservation and Study Centres of Nouvelle-Aquitaine
As a key step in the archaeological chain, the Centres de conservation et d'étude (CCE) conserve archaeological movable property resulting from excavations, work to enhance its value and promote archaeological research.
What happens to the furniture from the excavations? How and why keep it ? For more information, we take you to three of the six centres in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
The center of Admittedly and Graveyron (33)
Created in 2017 on the edge of the Arcachon basin, the CEC of Certes and Graveyron specializes in underwater archaeology. It is the only one in Nouvelle-Aquitaine to have two specialized rooms for the preservation of perishable materials and for metallic objects.

The Lim Centreoges (87)
Designed in the 1990s, the CCE de Limoges has now reached its maximum capacity for hosting archaeological objects. It is mainly dedicated to research by regularly hosting student researchers.

The Centre of Poitiers (86)
Inaugurated in 2015, the CEC of Poitiers is fully in line with the national policy for the management of archaeological collections. The distribution of storage areas promotes better circulation within the building in order to best protect the very fragile furniture. It also offers researchers shared training spaces to acquire skills in preventive conservation and knowledge of archaeological furniture.
