UDAP du Calvados (14)
The departmental unit of architecture and heritage (UDAP) of Calvados participates, within the heritage and architecture pole of the regional direction of cultural affairs of Normandy, to knowledge, protection, the conservation and enhancement of built and natural heritage and protected spaces and the promotion of architecture.
Placed under the hierarchical authority of the regional director of cultural affairs and under the functional authority of the prefect of department, the departmental unit of architecture and heritage of Calvados proposes, leads and coordinates studies relating to remarkable heritage sites (ex-ZPPAUP, ex-AVAP, former protected areas) as well as the surroundings of historical monuments.
The service also ensures the preservation of protected areas and contributes to their development. In collaboration with the other departments of the State, it ensures the application of regulations concerning the environment, urban planning and urban renewal with a view to sustainable quality of natural and urban spaces. In this spirit, the service contributes to the quality of urban and rural development projects and to the promotion of architectural quality.
Finally, the service participates, in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Environment, Development and Housing (DREAL) in the application of the legislation on registered sites, classified sites and advertising (Environment Code).
