Cultural action
An integral part of the cultural action and public development sector, the cultural action service is responsible for promoting the State’s policies on public development, the transmission of knowledge and the democratization of knowledge in Normandy.
Ensuring transversal coordination within the DRAC, the main mission of the Cultural Action Service is cultural action for the public and territories. Its action is based on two axes: public development and regional planning.
The service assists at the regional level in the definition and implementation of the inter-ministerial framework of intervention in favor of specific environments: hospital, justice, disability... and in favor of priority territories within the framework of the city policy, as well as in reference to the national convention Culture-Agriculture for the rural environment.
It delivers its expertise on the cultural aspects of contracts signed by the State and local authorities, such as city contracts, and in the context of juries relating to regional or national programs of cultural action.
It prepares the programming of the credits delegated by the Ministry of Culture to support projects of actions and cultural mediation to the public and priority territories presented by the cultural actors of Normandy (institutions, communities or associations).
Its intervention has as criteria the conformity with the specific specifications relating to the national or regional programs of the cultural action, as well as, more generally, the priority character of the public and the territories concerned, the quality and artistic ambition of the projects, the structuring character of the actions, the intervention of artists or cultural professionals with the public, the innovative nature of the approach, the consideration of new cultural practices and digital.
The sector is also a resource for cultural patronage.
