Val d'Oise UDAP
Sector North of the Île-de-France region, the Val-d'Oise is a contrasting territory with on the one hand a strong urbanization in the East connected to the small crown and on the other hand a rural dominant in the West characterized by the Vexin plateau. The department has 298 listed or classified historical monuments, and many sites including the listed site of the French Vexin, the largest listed site in France. 177 of the 184 municipalities of the department are covered by a protection (surroundings of historical monument, remarkable heritage site or listed or classified site).
The department of Val-d'Oise has its longest length from East to West - approximately 70 km - while its width from North to South varies from 14 to 28 km. Of its 1,246 km², or 10% of the Ile-de-France territory, it has 1,243,921 inhabitants (source Insee 2020), distributed unevenly since the density in the rural west is only 0.70 inhabitants per km², while that of the peri-urban areas of the Paris agglomeration exceeds 6,500 per km².
Our missions
Within the Departmental Unit of Architecture and Heritage (UDAP), the Architect of Buildings of France advises and promotes a quality architecture and urbanization taking into account the context in which the constructions must integrate harmoniously.
The AFB issues opinions on applications for land use authorizations (building permits, development permits, demolition permits and advance work declarations) that modify protected, built or natural areas.
He is curator of state-owned historical monuments and assigned to the Ministry of Culture. It also ensures the health of monuments protected as historical monuments.
Within the framework of these various actions, he intervenes with the user, the elected representative, the project leader, deciphering the stakes, highlighting the qualities of the site, so that the project fits harmoniously into its urban, architectural and landscape context. To this end, the UDAP has set up offices in various communities of communes, communes, and the UDAP, provided by the architects of the buildings of France, thus allowing a permanent dialogue with the different actors, upstream of the projects.
