Born in 1950, Marie-Christiane de La Conté graduated as an archivist-paleographer from the Ecole nationale des Chartes, she was curator at the Archives départementales de l'Eure (1980-1988), then at the Seine-Maritime (1989-2001), before serving as regional curator of historical monuments at the Haute-Normandie regional cultural affairs directorate until 2008. Appointed General Curator of Heritage in 2007, Marie-Christiane de La Conté has been Picardie’s Regional Director of Cultural Affairs since 2008.
During this period, she contributed to the creation of the regional circus and street arts hub and choreographic development centre, the reopening of the imperial theatre, and the restoration of the Saint-Corneille cloister in Compiègne.
