On the occasion of the 12e European Night of Museums, the saturday 21 may 2016, over 65 Museums of the North – Pas-de-Calais Picardie open their doors for free until late at night. To make discover the regional heritage in all its diversity, museums offer, as usual, a rich and varied programme. Guided tours, concerts, dance, theatre, screenings and readings punctuate an emblematic night anchored in the cultural landscape.

"Musée de France" since March 2016, the Museum of Lace and Embroidery of Caudry in the North, proposes to the rhythm of five melodies, five live paintings of women revealed by the creations of Sylvie Facon, textile designer. In Saint-Quentin in the Aisne, the butterfly museum invites the night owls to a funny entomological walk with Professor Poupon, discoverer of unusual insects as well as to an exhibition outside the walls to make you discover the universe of insects.

At Bruno Danvin Municipal Museum In Saint-Pol-sur-Ternoise in the Pas-de-Calais, the visitor can discover the exhibition of Éric Denudt which links the place of creation of the work of art to its place of exhibition.

The museum Boucher-de-perthes in Abbeville in the Somme, on the occasion of this edition of the European Night of Museums, the exhibition «Somme necropolis, an exceptional archaeological discovery» dedicated to the necropolises of Vron and Nouvion-en-Ponthieu.

Finally, the visitor can play with the light through an initiation to Light Painting but also to control it thanks to a workshop of discovery museum of art and archaeology of Senlis in the Oise.

Once again, students in the region are turning into cultural smugglers as part of the “La Classe, l'œuvre” operation, a scheme that was renewed for the fourth time in 2016, which brings together the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Culture and Communication. Among the participating museums this year are the mworn de Boulogne-sur-mer where the Boulonnais students introduce visitors to the museum’s permanent collections in the form of sketches, dances, plastic or digital productions and the museum of the Oise where the students of the Roy-Boissy school and the Oise secondary schools propose respectively a show and a mediation around some selected paintings.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the European Night of Museums is an opportunity to discover the heritage and culture of the Nord – Pas-de-Calais Picardie with your family and in a new light.
