The photographic exhibition of the DRAC Hauts-de-France, Service régional de l'archéologie presented in Paris
After the National Archives of the World of Labour, from October 2021 to April 2022, and the University of Lille, from May to July 2022, the exhibition «From the heart to the work: in the intimacy of the work of archaeologists» continues its route towards the capital. From November 7, and for a period of 5 weeks, you can discover at the Foundation of the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme in Paris, 65 unpublished photographs, selected from the archives of the Service régionale de l'Archéologie of the DRAC Hauts-de-France.
The Fondation de la Maison des Sciences de l'Homme in Paris wanted to host the exhibition in its premises in Paris (6th) on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the magazine «Les nouvelles de l'archéologie» (NDA). It is also an opportunity to celebrate, less than a year after the event, the publication of the Acts of the Study day on December 2, 2021, entitled “Archaeology profession?”, which are the subject of a Special issue of the journal «Les nouvelles de l'archéologie».
This new place very open to the outside allows to propose a new scenography of the exhibition and to propose it to the Parisian public.
The inauguration at the Fondation de la Maison des Sciences de l'Homme in Paris will take place on 16 November in the presence of Hilaire Multon, director of cultural affairs at Hauts-de-France.
A unique photographic exhibition in the intimacy of the work of archaeologists
Through these photographs, the exhibition reveals the other side of the landscape of the archaeological sites, the ropes of the archaeologist, along with his routines, his moments of happiness, but also of galleys. It pays tribute to the passionate women and men who hide behind each archaeological discovery and thus offers a new perspective on the community of archaeologists.
This exhibition was conceived as part of a Archaeologist Memoirs Project whose objective is to meet regional archaeologists, men and women of all generations, in order to gather their testimony on the profession of archaeologist and thus to present to the public, regional archaeology in a renewed way.
A round table on archaeology and photography.
In each place of its roaming, the exhibition is animated around different mediation actions proposed to the public.
